Ventera Energy

Ventera Energy is a company that holds a good potential for the small turbine market. The Ventera principals are from the former World Power Technologies company which was bought out by Southwest Windpower. Elliot Bayly started the new company, Ventera, located in Duluth Minnesota, currently offers one turbine, the VT10. Their goal is to design and manufacture an all new wind and solar hybrid system that is cost effective for moderate wind areas.

Ventera VT10 downwind wind turbine

The VT10, presently their single wind turbine product for sale, comes only in a grid tie configuration. Normally we would not be interested in a unit that was not also offered in a battery charging version. We have been told by the company that they are indeed working on a battery charging version. Since the VT10 looks like a solid contender in the small wind market we feel it is worthwhile to review it. The price versus possible power output is very attractive for a system of this size.

The turbine itself is a downwind design. It has blade tip pitch for speed control. The outer portion of the blade actually moves instead of the whole blade twisting. It is caused by centrifugal force.

Note

The information provided for this wind turbine(s) is very limited.  We have only posted basic specs and information here.  The "Turbine Reviews" section in "The Ultimate Consumer's Guide To Wind Power" is not comprised of these exact pages.  The ebook does contain thorough, in-depth content, side-by-side comparisons, and our unbiased opinion of each turbine.
